Gold Coast and District Rugby Referees' Association The Gold Coast District Rugby Referees Association was formed in 1978 to support Rugby competitions for clubs based in the Gold Coast area of South East Queensland. Since being formed the association has made a significant contribution to Rugby development in the area. The Association has a history of achievement with three members having received appointments to international tour team matches, two to Australian Rugby Shield matches, and many others to Queensland Country Championship, overseas touring team matches, and other internal Queensland Provincial matches. The Association is very much a Community Rugby group through recruitment, retention, education and appointment processes to the local competitions and carnivals and is one of the leaders in administration for a State based Provincial Referees Society. Each week during the season in excess of 150 teams participate in Rugby which means that the Association’s contribution to Community Rugby is substantial. The Association is committed to encouraging school aged through to 19 year old recruits to take up officiating and has programs in place to accelerate learning for such recruits. Should you wish to know more about the Association, Laws of the Game, Becoming a Match Official (Referee) or general information about the referee discipline then you must visit the Gold Coast Referees web site http://gcrugbyrefs.rugbynet.com.au/ .
