TEAM   MANAGER   DUTIES AND GUIDELINES

SEASON   2007

RGC CITY FINANCE PREMIER COMPETITION CLUB

There will be two Team Managers appointed for each RGC Team. In each designated grade, team Managers will report directly to the Head Coach. The duties of Team Managers are as follows:

  1. Attend all training sessions called by the Head Coach. Teams will train on Tuesday and Thursday at RGC, commencing  at 6pm sharp, although extra sessions might be called for special purposes by the Head Coach from time to time. An injury management clinic will be conducted at Pindarra Physiotherapy, commencing on Monday February 5th, 2007, also timed for 5.30pm. Managers should actively encourage injured players to attend these clinics, so that a proper diagnosis is made and so that an appropriate and timely treatment regimen is initiated.
  2. Attend all trial and competition matches and carry out the duties outlined in this document and any check lists additionally provided.
  3. Team Managers unable from time to time to carry out their duties should contact their Head Coach in a timely fashion, to enable alternative arrangements to be made.
  4. Duty Boys will be appointed on a roster system devised by the Club Captain(s).  Duty Boys will be required to assist Team Managers in ensuring that all training equipment and goal post pads are out on the field and ready for use, prior to the commencement of each 6pm session. They are also to assist Managers in returning equipment to the gear room after each session.
  5. A separate check list for “training days” and “match days” is provided in Section 1.  Of   this Manual as well as being displayed on the wall as you enter the gear room.
  6. For both “home” and “away” matches, all equipment required by the Head Coach should be available for the warm up, thirty five (35) minutes prior to kick off.
  7. On match days, all administrative duties required by the competition rules, will be the responsibility of Team Managers, such as the accurate completion of team sheets to include the final score, individual scorers etc, duly signed by the match referee. Completed sheets should be handed to the appropriate person for faxing to RGC soon as practicable after each match. The names of player’s temporarily suspended (sin binned)   or who have been sent off by the referee are to be recorded on team sheets in accordance with the competition rules.
  8. It is strict policy that coaches, managers, officials and players, respect the authority of referees and touch judges in all circumstances. Team Managers have a special responsibility to ensure that only the very highest standards are observed.
  9. Managers should encourage a club culture whereby players in each grade support each other by attending all matches where possible, particularly those of the Colts. All players should be made aware of Club Policy regarding attendance at after match functions, both home and away.
  10. A  copy of the ARU Code of Conduct is provided in Section 2 of this manual for your guidance. Managers and Coaches have a responsibility to ensure that only the very highest standards of conduct are observed, both on and off the field.
  11. If a player is injured during a match and requires hospitalization, it is the responsibility of one of the Team Managers to accompany the player requiring admittance and to advise his family accordingly.
  12. Team Managers should ensure a scoop frame and two (2) cervical collars are placed on the touchline prior to the commencement of any home match. A medically trained person must also be present prior to kick off and for the duration of the match. Managers should be familiar with the ARU Safety Directives, which are displayed in dressing rooms and on club notice   boards and, in conjunction with the Head Coach ensure they are strictly observed.
  13. For all home games, dressing rooms will be clean and tidy for the first match. Managers should ensure dressing rooms are presented in a similar fashion for teams which follow. Bins are situated in each dressing room and players should be actively encouraged to use them.  Brooms and dust pans will be provided to assist in this regard.
  14. A freshly laundered set of jerseys numbered 1-22 will be available for each match. Extra un-numbered (blank) jerseys, shorts and socks will also be available, should a player’s uniform be contaminated by blood or is torn or damaged during a match. No two players may wear the same numbered jersey during a match.  It is your particular responsibility to recover and count all jerseys after each match so that they can be returned to the club for laundering. You should encourage players to hand back their jerseys with the number turned outwards, which will aid quick jersey recovery. Managers should hand out jerseys to players according to their numbering in the official   programme and / or record which player was given a certain jersey. Torn jerseys should be kept separate so that they can be repaired or replaced.
  15. The ARU has developed a Serious Injury Protocol, which is to be strictly observed in the event of serious injury. Serious injury is defined as injury causing death or suspected spinal injury. The protocol and injury report forms are found in section 4 of this manual.
  16. The Club strongly supports the ARU Doping Policy which prohibits the use of certain substances and methods, both in and out of competition. The Players Information and Club Policy Booklet for 2007 strongly makes this point and emphasis the fact that responsibility in this area remains with the individual. Players will be given an ASADA information card which displays a toll free hotline number (1800 020 506) which should be used whenever any form of medication is contemplated, whether prescribed by a doctor or recommended by a pharmacist. The full Doping Policy is available by visiting the ARU website www.rugby.com.au and clicking on community rugby/policies and procedures.
